God’s Promise:
“I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:13 (ESV)
The Reflection:
Remember that scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron when the team gathered around, laughing and taking turns trying to lift Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir?
One by one, they strained, pulled, and joked, but none of them could budge it—except for that small moment when Captain America nudged it just enough to make Thor nervous. But ultimately, only Thor could lift it effortlessly, as if it weighed nothing at all. Why? Because Mjolnir wasn’t just about physical strength; it could only be wielded by the one deemed worthy.
Now, think of that in the context of our families. God has placed a unique calling on us as fathers and husbands, a responsibility that might seem as heavy as Mjolnir—weighty, immovable, and sometimes impossible to lift.
The task of shepherding, stewarding, and serving our families isn’t light work. But here’s the truth:
God doesn’t call us to carry this burden in our own strength.
Just like Thor was enabled to wield the hammer, we are empowered by God to lead our families with grace, wisdom, and courage. What feels impossible to lift on our own becomes light when we rely on His strength.
I’ll be honest—there have been mornings when I felt like the weight of leading my family was too much. Whether it was the stress of providing, the challenge of being patient with my kids, or making decisions that impact everyone in the household, it felt overwhelming. But every time I came to God in prayer, laying down my pride and admitting my weakness, He met me with His grace.
It’s not about being the strongest man in the room, but about being worthy in God’s eyes—humble, faithful, and willing to serve.
When we surrender our pride and lean into His power, the weight of our calling becomes not just bearable but a privilege.
We’re not just holding our families together; we’re lifting them up, empowered by the Powerful transforming Grace of the One who entrusted them to us.
Shepherding in Action: Today’s Value:
Humility enables strength.
When we lead with humility, admitting our need for God’s power, we become stronger shepherds for our families.
