“For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.” – Psalm 139:13-14
Men, Know Who You Are in Christ
You are not forgotten. You are not overlooked. God has created you with purpose, knitting you together in your mother’s womb and knowing every detail about you—even the hairs on your head. You are His, and He has called you to a life of meaning, leadership, and love.
As a husband and father, your calling began the day you were saved. Life with Jesus is not split into the “before” and “after”—it’s a unified journey of living in spirit and truth. Shepherding your family starts with this foundation: knowing who you are and why you serve.
But here’s the catch: serving Jesus isn’t about showing off your actions. It’s not about how well you perform as the “man of the house” or how strong you look in your spiritual armor. True servant leadership begins when you focus on why you do what you do—not on what you’re doing.
Leading with Spirit and Truth
Your family watches you every day. They see your devotion to Jesus not in big, bold gestures, but in the quiet, consistent moments of faith. They see it when you pray on your knees, when you speak to God in humility and reverence, and when you trust in His authority over your life.
Living as a godly man means recognizing that your leadership comes from Christ. He has placed you in a position of stewardship—of guiding your family with love, humility, and strength. But be cautious: don’t let your acts of service become an idol. Your service should flow out of your love for God, not as a way to earn His favor.
Jesus has already made you His. Your job is to reflect that truth in how you lead and love. Worship Him through your actions, but don’t forget that He values you more than anything you could ever do.
Inspirational Reflection
Take a moment today to consider how your “why” shows up in your daily life. Ask yourself:
- Do my actions reflect my love for Jesus?
- Does my family see my devotion in how I speak, act, and serve?
- Am I shepherding my home in a way that points them to Christ?
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'” – John 14:6
