God’s greatness becomes clear when we understand our role as leaders of our families and recognize our deep need for His grace. The Bible reminds us of this truth through the words of Paul in Isaiah 64:6 (referenced by Paul in Romans 3:23), where he describes our righteousness as “filthy rags.” To lead with God’s righteousness, we first need to acknowledge our sinfulness and understand that God’s love is revealed through Jesus Christ. His light exposes our sins, and when we repent, we can reflect His love onto our families. This is where our faith grows stronger, laying the foundation for building His church within our homes.
If we don’t see ourselves as sinners, we can’t see the stains on our souls. There’s an experiment where a frog is placed in a pot of water, and the heat is slowly increased. The frog doesn’t jump out because it doesn’t realize how hot the water is becoming. In the same way, we can become so accustomed to our sin that we don’t recognize it. Without this realization, we won’t seek God’s forgiveness or lead our families in His peace and love.
